Robert Barrett Reserve - playing field upgrade

Council is seeking feedback on upgrades to the playing field at Robert Barrett Reserve, Maribyrnong to enable enhanced soccer and cricket activities.

The works include turf improvements, irrigation, lighting, new perimeter pathways, additional tree planting, and line marking for cricket and two soccer fields.

Melbourne Victory Football Club would contribute funds to the upgrade in return for a 10 year license agreement for soccer training activities. The existing wicket would be retained and cricket activity continue following improvements to the fields.

In accordance with Council’s Lease and License Policy 2013 we are seeking your feedback.

Feedback should be received by Monday 13 November 2017

It would be a wonderful idea to have outdoor exercise equipment station (air walker, ab-cruncher etc.)

The two scoccer field are fine. Please have more thoughts on the track that circle the track. Consider a winding paths instead of straight paths. Consider vegetation and shades along the path. Public exercises equipment similar to those along Maribrynong river. Those are the upgrade that would benefit our community.

Optional BBQ facilities near the playground.

I suggest the new path has a new crossover of the tram tracks alongside the Maribyrnong college tram stop.
This is a well worn track as it takes pedestrian traffic filtering from Rowe st to River st. As well as the college.

This is a great idea. Getting an A-league team to train at a local facility will be great engagement for the local community and probably boost the local economy. The current reserve is an eyesore and to me a dead space which I never see any activity in. Fully supportive of this
